MANDATES

  1. Developing competency in controlling TADs (exotic and emerging diseases) using state of art diagnostics and surveillance.

  2. National facility for handling high-risk animal pathogens/ genetically engineered organisms.

  3. Referral diagnostic centre for new diseases.

  4. Transfer of technology for diagnosis of exotic/emerging diseases.

  5. Training and education.

 

OBJECTIVES

  1. Building national facility and developing competence for handling high risk animal pathogens (HRAP)/transboundary animal diseases (TAD)/ genetically engineered organisms (GEO) through basic and strategic research.

  2. TOT by partnership model development for diagnosis and control of exotic/emerging diseases.

  3. Development of biosafety and biosecurity protocols against exotic and newly emerging diseases and capacity building through training.

  4. Creation of data bank on exotic/ emerging diseases of livestock and poultry.

  5. Providing training and education on exotic/ emerging animal diseases and biosafety provisions required for handling high risk pathogens.
